Background of the Warangal District, Telangana State

The ancient capital of the kakatiyas dynasty, Warangal, was ruled by numerous kings like 2. Beta Raja 3. Prola Raja-I II. Beta Raja Prola Raja – II 5. Rudra Deva 6. Mahadeva, Ganapathi Deva, Pratapa Rudra, and Rani Rurdrama Devi, the sole female ruler of Andhra, followed by Pratapa Rudra. The impressive Kakatiya fortress, four massive stone gates, a large Shivate temple, and a large lake are just a few of the many structures that the Kakatiyas left behind. They constructed numerous Shivate temples and large lakes for irrigation. It came under the control of the Delhi Sultanate after the Kakatiyas. The Nayaka Chieftains on capturing they ruled over for few years. After demise of the Nayakas, the Warangal became part of Bahmani suitanate of Golkonda. In 1687, it was added to the Moghal empire, and in 1724, it became a part of Hyderabad state. Lastly, in September 1948, it joined the Government of Free India. Due to its status as a telugu-speaking region, the District of Warangal became a part of Andhra Pradesh in 1956 under the State Reorganisation Act. After separate Telangana agitation, the Telangana State was formed on 2nd June, 2014 and Warangal became part of Telangana State. Again, the former District “Warangal” has been split into five districts following the reorganization of districts in Telangana State. which formed the Warangal (Rural) District, which was being on October 11, 2016.
